Celebrities are to thank for boost in sales for Thomas Cook!
Thomas Cook has found a way to make money out of celebrities. By using them in the same way as every other business on the planet would, by turning them into Advert monkeys. However Thomas Cook has been a little different in the way they have done this. This tour operator dedicates most of it’s time to the British public. Jamie Redknapp is a name known by almost everyone, and for no reason hated. Louise is a judge on one of the UK’s most watched shows currently on TV. Most people in the UK really like this couple, there is nothing bad to say about them!
So what is that makes this advert even more special. Jamie and Louise are very favourable, especially in the public’s eyes. They embark on a holiday with Thomas Cook and are seen relaxing on the beach, going for a meal, nothing to fancy. This can give some people the impression that, well, “if they can go there, maybe we can live like celebrities for a week or two as well”. I do however doubt very much that Mr and Mrs Redknapp do stay in these resorts on a regular basis, but never mind what do any of us know about the lifestyle of a celebrity.
These two never seem to get bad press as well; they appear to be the perfect couple. Which is great, and good for them, at least we have an idea of what our holiday will be like. Thomas Cook is the longest running Tour Operator in the UK, so they are a very respected and trusted Tour Operator. This business has done very well to bond so well with the Redknapp’s.
Surely we should look at this from all angles though. Celebrities don’t camp out in the same hotels as us, we all know that is true. In fact are Louise and Jamie not lying to us about where they are staying? Do you really think that this holiday is going to be as good as is suggested.
Sharm El Sheikh Holidays are a favourite of the Celebrity demographic, showered in luxury hotels, however saying that Egypt holidays have been popular with the entire country. So is Thomas Cook wrong to be employing role models in their adverts, of course not, I have been on Hurghada holidays, what fun it was, no celebrities spotted though!
